Obituary of Jean Friesen
April 23, 1954 - October 12, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, sister, and grandma Jean Beatrice Friesen on Oct. 12, 2021.
Jean was born on April 23, 1954, in Rosthern, SK to Jacob and Laverna Klassen. She was the youngest of two girls. She spent her younger years in Saskatoon and then moved to Laird where she lived until she met the love of her life. She married Abe Friesen on October 9, 1971, and spent most of their 50 married years living in Laird, SK. On September 30, 1973, they welcomed their son Kevin into the world.
Jean spent many years employed at the Laird grocery store where she made many friends and acquaintances. After those many years, her and Abe spent some summer adventures working together at Eagle Bay Resort at East Trout Lake SK. Jean loved to spend time camping with family and friends every summer, right up until this summer. She really enjoyed her vacation trips to Mexico and to BC to visit family. Family was really important to Jean, and she loved gathering for any occasion.
She is survived by her: husband, Abe Friesen; son; Kevin (Christina) Friesen and family, Alexa Friesen, Hunter Janzen; and one sister, Shirley (Gary) Fischer and family. She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Laird, SK, with Pastor Jason Johnson officiating. Following the service, interment of her ashes will take place in Stony Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 55 St. Clair Avenue West, Suite 500, Toronto, ON M4V 2Y7.
Arrangements are entrusted to Funk’s Funeral Home, Rosthern, SK.
