Obituary of Donald Hinz

 

May 4, 1943 - January 13, 2024

Donald “Don” Hinz, 80 years of age, a long-time resident of Calgary and previously of the Waldheim, SK area, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2024,

in Calgary, Alberta.  

 

Don was born on May 4, 1943, in Waldheim.  In 1970, he married Marilyn Baerg and together they raised a family while farming and operating Don Hinz Manufacturing Ltd. west of Waldheim.  In later years, he moved to Calgary and “had the best job of his life as a paid tourist” driving truck throughout western Canada.  Don loved the Calgary Stampede, family road trips, roller coasters, snow and waterskiing, and happily brought along anyone willing.

 

Don is dearly missed by his: three children Jacqueline, Rodney (Rachael) and Glen (Estefania).  His memory is cherished by grandchildren Jonah, Niklas, Ella and Spencer as well as numerous nieces, nephews and individuals who were blessed to know or meet him.  Don is survived by sisters Eileen Quiring and Neoma (Harold) Jantz; brothers Lorne (Leslie) and Dave; and brother-in-law Don (Carol) Unger.  Don was predeceased by his sister Ruth, mother Hertha, father David, sister Marion Unger, sister-in-law Lois Hinz, and brother-in-law Art Quiring.

A Funeral Service will be held at

Waldheim MB Church,

on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 2:00 PM,

with refreshments to follow.
