I also had an experience driving with Don. Shortly after Don and Marilyn were married we made a trip to Regina to the exhibition.I happened to be driving when we got to Regina, my first time driving in Regina. We were in the centre lane when Don saw a farm truck in the lot as we were passing. He opened his passenger door, while I was driving, to go check out the truck. Someone just happened to be coming beside us, well we had to tie the door shut to carry on our journey.
Probably the last time Don came to my house for supper in Melfort after a Hodgins sale he wanted to go see the New Water Treatment Plant. Just before we got to the plant Don saw a flock of geese in the field. To my surprise he went through the ditch and across the field , laughing, and the geese all flew away. Then I understood why my son only made one trip from Waldheim to Melfort with Don and said he wouldn’t drive with Uncle Don again. Don had no fear!!
