John Hildebrandt was born in Rosthern on March 19, 1928. He was loved by many as a Dad, Papa, great grandfather, brother, uncle and a friend.
Dad had a heart of gold. He was known as a kind and caring man with a deep integrity. He loved God with all of his heart and taught that love to his children. He had a spirit of gratefulness and was always thankful. His deepest desire was to see those he loved know Jesus. He knew what it meant to “abide” with Christ and that was evidenced by his impact on those around him.
He was a wonderful dad and took time to spend with his children. We played many card games together. Dad was always available to talk – we all had his ear on many occasions to share our sorrows and joys.
Dad was very loved by all of his thirteen grandchildren, and they loved spending time with him and playing games. They knew they were covered in prayer as well and that Papa constantly brought his family to God. His great-grandchildren loved their “Papa John” and he was very proud of all of them.
John is survived by his family:
Daryl (Pat) Hildebrandt and their children, Matthew (Celine) and Lyndsey (Taijon) Hildebrandt.
Darlene (Jake) Janzen and their four children, Alison (Evan) Anderson, Gillian (Conrad) Funk, Kaitlyn (Craig) Knudsen and Bailey (Clyde) Janzen.
Diana Petkau and her two children, Brittany (Cody) Braun and Mackenzie (Sheldon) Janzen.
Dolores (Jerry) Penner and their three children, Michael, Jasmine (Jaggard) Colley and Robyn (Adam) Hudec.
Daphne (Trevor) Willems and their two children, Elliot (Jaclyn) and Zachery.
John is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren, two sisters, numerous nieces and nephews and in-laws.
John was predeceased by his wife Katie, son-in-law Bernie and Grandson Devon as well as siblings and some nieces and nephews.
