It is with much love and deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Cecile Mariani at the age of 94.

Cecile was born on Saint Valentine's Day 1928, in Duck Lake Saskatchewan to Almanzar Viens and Lily Campbell.  She was the 5th of 7 children and by all accounts the "tomboy" of the three sisters.  Her childhood activities included baseball as well as playing outdoor hockey with her brothers. It was hard for Cecile when all 4 brothers joined the Canadian Armed Forces for WW2 and to the relief of all the family when they safely returned home from active duty. Cecile was 11 years old when her father passed away, however even with very limited means, education was made the priority by her mother.  Cecile excelled in school and went on to a post secondary education. She was involved in education for 20 years. During this time, she became the principal of Beardy's school, topping off her career as an Education Advisor for the Federal Government. On a more personal note, in December of 1948, Cecile married one of the most eligible bachelors in the area, a first generation Canadian farmer named Paul Mariani.  Paul and Cecile settled in the Titanic area where they farmed, raised their 3 children and enjoyed travelling across the country in their motorhome to visit family.  Cecile was an excellent baker and seamstress, enjoyed all forms of art and crafts, classical music, the most difficult of crossword puzzles, and would rival any classically trained chef with her sauces and ability to create gourmet meals.  She was the matriarch of our family in all ways.

Cecile (mom, grandma, ggma) will be missed by her children Anne-Marie and Phillip (Lorna); grandchildren: Clayton (Michelle), Laurie-Anne (Frank), Kimberly (Cameron), and Francesca; great-grandchildren Cassandra (Shihab), Carmen, Shaya, Cash, and Mason; sister Mildred; sister-in-law Gloria, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family and close friends.

Cecile was predeceased by her husband Paul, son: Dennis, son-in-law: Monty, sister Marie, and brothers Harry, Hector, Eddie and George.

The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Goodwill Manor in Duck Lake for their care and compassion.
