Obituary of Sarah Martens

June 14, 1941 - May 18, 2022

80 Years

The passing of Sarah Martens, 80 years old, occurred on May 18, 2022 at the Mennonite Nursing Home, Rosthern, SK.  Sarah grew up on a farm in the Hague area.  She was baptized in confession of her faith, May 21, 1961.

Sarah married the love of her life Henry P. Martens in 1962, and they started their life together in Martensville.  In August 1977, they moved to a farm in the Rosthern Area and farmed together until Henry passed away on May 10, 2002.  Sarah moved to the Hague area in the fall of 2002.  She survived having a brain tumor removed in 2001 and a mastectomy and eventually moved into Pineview Manor. She was transferred to Wakaw Nursing Home after she suffered a stroke, paralyzing her right side, January 2016.  On May 10, 2016, she was transferred to the Mennonite Nursing Home, her health started to fail in the winter of 2021 and cancer was suspected.  She was clear in her mind until the day of her passing. Mom loved gardening, flowers, and baking.  She loved company, she spent a lot of time on the phone visiting with family and friends.

We want to thank the staff at the Mennonite Nursing Home for all the care that they have given mom over the last 6 years and to all that showed her love and support.

Sarah was survived by her:
