Obituary of Martha Thille

February 6, 1928 – May 16, 2012 It is with profound sadness that the family of Martha Thille announces her passing on May 16, 2012 at age 84 years. Born in Rosthern on February 6, 1928 to Mathurin and Marie-Louise Guillou. Martha spent her early years on the farm. In 1936, the family moved to France to her parent’s homeland. In time, when her studies were interrupted by World War II, Martha became a dressmaker. She returned to Canada in 1948 and worked as a seamstress in Duck Lake and LaPlaine area. She married Albert Thille in 1951, and they raised their three children on the family farm. She will be remembered for her love of family and friends, generosity, sense of humor and accomplishments in sewing, knitting, crochet, and much more. She is survived by her children: Madelaine (Safar) Ali, Burlington, ON; Bernard (Sonja) Thille, Rosthern, SK; Paulette Thille, Ashcroft, B.C. She will never be forgotten by her grandchildren: Carmen Ali, Roxanne Ali (Kamba Ankunda), Jay Thille (Daisy Sutherland), Nick (Christine) Thille. Martha is also survived by her precious great-grandchildren: Keitu and Linnaea Ankunda, Bailey and Sydney Sutherland, Maxwell and Benjamin Thille. She is survived by her sisters: Marie-Louise Guillou and Bernadette Prost and sisters-in-law: Simone Guillou and Lorraine Guillou. She was predeceased by her husband Albert Thille, and brothers Jean, Robert and Alfred. A Private Memorial Service was officiated by Lay Presiders Ralph & Valerie Schidlowsky, held at Funk’s Funeral Chapel, Saturday, May 19, 2012. Interment of her ashes took place in Rosthern Cemetery. Arrangements were in care of Funk’s Funeral Home, Rosthern, SK.
