Obituary of Marie Loewen

February 22, 1922 – December 9, 2012 Marie Loewen died peacefully in the comfort and security of her home surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband Jacob in 2011. Marie is survived by eight children and their families: Donald (Shirley) and Monica (Jacklin Busaan) and Trevor (Nicole); Robert (Deborah Parker-Loewen) and Paul, Sarah (Reyn Lauer) and Trent (Tracy Muzzolini); Judith (Allan Kopp) and Jenny (Wallace Gray), Arlan (Chantelle Berg) and Lana (Jose Belmondo); Philip (Becky) and Michelle (Barry Wolfe), Bryan (Cindy) and Terri (Ryan Epp); Diane (Lee Routly) and Kayle and Charlee; Barbara (Joseph Wiebe) and Justin (Carolyn) and Nathan (Sarah Jamieson); Shirley (Mervin Laye) and Kaitlin; George and Clayton and Dustyn (Carris); and 17 great-grandchildren. Marie will also be missed by her surviving sibling, Sarah (Abraham) Loewen, sister-in-law Rosemary Buchanan and her in-laws from Jacob’s side of the family. She will also be remembered by her cousins and many nieces and nephews. Marie will be remembered for her love of music. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed both her vegetable and flower gardens. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed sewing many quilts for Mennonite Central Committee. She had a keen sense of adventure and enjoyed traveling in South America and Europe. Marie’s family wants to extend sincere appreciation to Dr. Roy Chernoff and his staff for their kindness in the past years. The family also wants to thank all the staff at Bethany Manor for their love and support. The Funeral Service will be held at Cornerstone Church, 315 Lenore Drive, Saskatoon, 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2012. Interment will take place at Hochfeld Cemetery, Hague, SK. Donations in Marie’s memory may be made to Mennonite Central Committee, 600-45th Street West, Saskatoon, S7L 5W9. Arrangements are in care of Funk’s Funeral Home, Rosthern, SK.
