Obituary of Dora Schmidt

April 1, 1922 – July 31, 2016 The death of Dora Schmidt, age 94 years of Martensville, SK occurred on July 31, 2016 at Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon, SK. Dora Elizabeth Bonnet, daughter of Rene and Eva Bonnet, was born April 1, 1922. She was the youngest of 7 children: Alma (G) Thomas, Edna (Joe) Haider, Oneil (Eleanor) Bonnet, Ovila Bonnet, Joe (Mildred) Bonnet, and Jean (Joe) Warren. All are passed away except sister-in-law, Aunt Mildred Bonnet. Dora married Arthur Henry Schmidt on July 4, 1944. They farmed at Laird, then moved to La Plaine to farm with Art becoming the Pool Grain Buyer. They moved to Rosthern in 1966 and ran the Shell Bulk Station from 1968 until its closure. After the closure of the Bulk Station, Dora continued to help with the books at the family Shell Car / Truck Wash until retiring in 1998. She was predeceased by her husband Art in 1988. She is survived by her two sons, James Edward and Daniel Lawrence (Sharon); granddaughter Jolleen (Jason) Clark; two great grandchildren Tyson and Logan; and granddaughter Crystal (Stephen) Gaudet. We will miss you Mama Bear. Rest in Peace. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Phinh Do on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Odilon Roman Catholic Church, Rosthern, SK. Interment will take place at Blessed Sacrament R.C. Cemetery, Duck Lake, SK.
