Obituary of Reinhold Krikau

Reinhold (Rheiny) Krikau Rheiny passed away peacefully at Rosthern Union Hospital April 24, 2012 with his wife Anne and family by his side. Dad was born August 24, 1920, the 3rd youngest in a family of 5 boys and 5 girls. He went to Heidelberg School, and then worked on the family farm until World War II. After the War, dad returned to farming, married Anne Afonicheff on September 18, 1947 and together they raised their family on the Krikau homestead. Mom and dad moved into Rosthern in 1984, but he never really retired from farming as he helped with fieldwork up until last year. In town, Dad had a green thumb planting fruit trees in the garden and pine trees around the house, and was passionate with keeping the hedges trimmed and the grass cut. Mom and dad travelled extensively before spending 20 winters in Mesa, where his self-taught musical talent was put to use with a local band at their park. Dad was a life time member at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Rosthern and Honorary Lifetime member with the Rosthern Lions Club. Dad is survived by his loving wife Anne of almost 65 years, sons Phillip Rodney (Elda) Krikau and Glenn (Debbie) Krikau, and daughters Iris (Don) Penner and Colleen Letilley, eight grandchildren Scott (Hilary) Wagner, Jackie (Jay) Barlow, Shellie (Craig) Buhler, Todd Krikau and fiancé Nicole, Chad (Darlene) Krikau, Amber Krikau (Mark McGrath), Bobbie-Jo (Jason) Knorr, Nathan (Juliet) Penner, 17 great grandchildren, brother Herb (Elsie) Krikau, sister Esther Braden; sisters-in-law Emma Krikau and Ruth Krikau; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Philip and Katherine Krikau; siblings Emma (Alfred) Schultz, Molly (Otto) Malin, William (Thelma) Krikau, Fred Krikau, Henry Krikau, Mary (Harry) Wienick, Lenora (Elmer) McConnell, son-in-law Richard Letilley and brother-in-law William Braden.
