Obituary of Ruth Fisher

September 27, 1934 – April 20, 2021 Ruth slipped away peacefully on April 20, 2021 at the Mennonite Nursing Home, Rosthern, reaching the age of 86 years. Ruth was born on her grandfather’s homestead, September 27, 1934. She took her elementary schooling in a one room schoolhouse called Eigenfeld School. Then she completed her high school education in Waldheim and Rosthern. After graduating, Ruth started her work at the local CIBC Bank in Rosthern. During her working years, she looked after both of her aging parents, learning all the skills of home and farm life. Ruth was a passionate person being involved in civic duties, including being the mayor of Rosthern for many years. Ruth was always known for her ability to bring people together. She enjoyed planning detailed gatherings and reunions for family, school and the town. Ruth loved the outdoors. She took pride in displaying the love and care she had for her home. After retirement, Ruth made numerous trips to a variety of places, including a trip to Europe and special places in the United States and Canada. Her hobby in needlework was one of her accomplishments and her horse brought her much joy. She was a great entertainer. Christmas celebrations with her will always hold a special place in our hearts. Her love for her nieces and nephews was well known by the care and concern she gave them. She was predeceased by her: parents, John and Marie (Epp) Fisher; brothers, Edwin Fisher, Norman (Helen) Fisher, Clarence (Helen) Fisher; brother-in-law Elmer Bartel; niece Marilyn (Allan) Jensen; and nephew Robert John Fisher. Left to cherish her memories are her: sister Alvera Bartel, nieces Dorothy (Greg) Noble, Gladys Fisher, Darla Fisher (wife of nephew Robert), and many great nieces and nephews.
