Obituary of Phyllis Rybchinski

April 6, 1935 – April 10, 2013 With deepest sadness we announce the passing of Phyllis Olga (nee Zazula) Rybchinski on Wednesday, April 10, 2013. Phyllis was one of four children born to Fred and Annie Zazula (nee Trischuk), in the district of Ponass Lake, Sask. Phyllis, with husband Nestor Rybchinski resided in Wakaw the past sixteen years. At an early age she met the singing and guitar playing man from Wakaw, and together, as lifelong partners they raised six children. Her work ethic was set when, as a young girl, she would help milk the cows before walking miles to and from school. Ever hard-working, Phyllis had an optimism and joyfulness that was felt by everyone she met and took every opportunity she could to be of service to her community, the public, her family and friends. This was Mom’s approach, from life on the Elstow farm cooking for the hired hands; young children in tow, to the kitchens for the mine start-up crews at PCS Allan in the ‘60’s, to retail in Colonsay, restaurant management and catering in Saskatoon and Wakaw, her friends at Faith Community Church and in her commitment to the Royal Canadian Legion in Wakaw. Right up until cancer took Mom’s strength and health, those who knew her, know how much she loved to serve you all. It is our comfort that Mom now serves at the table of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Predeceased by her parents, brother James, and sister Pearl. She leaves to mourn her beloved husband, Nestor, daughters, Lynne Carmichael of Saskatoon, Donna (David) Greenway of Lloydminster, Debbie (Rod) Massett of Saskatoon and sons, Cliff (Kathy) of Saskatoon, Paul (Vicky) of Calgary, Gord (Kim) Rybchinski of Saskatoon, eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren as well as her sister, Kathleen (John) Badiuk, and sister-in-law, Louise Zazula. She will be remembered by all whose lives she touched. We wish to express a very special thank you to family friend, Mary Broda and, to Elaine Kushneryk, Darlene Antoshkiw and Michelle Luciuk for their kindness. Thank you to all who kept Phyllis in their prayers and as well, thank you to the nursing staff at Rosthern Hospital. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations in memory of Phyllis may be made to the Rosthern Hospital Foundation, Box 88, Rosthern, SK SOK 3R0.
