Obituary of Elswood Louis Magnusson

September 14, 1942 – July 2, 2016 Elswood Louis Magnusson, “Woody” was born September 14, 1942 to Louis and Florida (Dube) Magnusson. He grew up in Wynyard, SK surrounded by his siblings: Glenn, Mildred, Lorraine, Norma and Carol. While working as a Conservation officer for the Government of Saskatchewan’s, Department of Northern Saskatchewan (DNS) and Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Woody met his wife, Denise. The two were married Aug 19, 1967 and went on to have three children: Greg, Lauriel and Leiann. Woody and Denise lived in many northern towns where he worked as a Conservation Officer and Denise worked as a teacher. In 1981, after 17 years Woody left the DNR and moved to Duck Lake, SK. Woody and Denise bought the Duck Lake Variety Store and raised leafcutter bees for a number of years until retirement. Woody was an active member of the Duck Lake and District Lions Club and a Board Member of the Regional Interpretive Center. Over the years Woody met many people who became dear family friends. Woody always had a sense of humor and enjoyed getting together with friends and family to reminisce about good times and to make new ones. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 3:30 P.M. at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, Duck Lake, SK with Rev. Phinh Do presiding. Interment of his ashes will take place at Blessed Sacrament Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK S4P 2R3 or Duck Lake Lions Club, Box 206, Duck Lake, SK S0K 1J0.
