Obituary of Harold Jackson

June 30, 1948 – July 19, 2012 Harold Frank Elias Jackson, born June 30, 1948, died July 19, 2012 at Rosthern. He was born in Melfort and that is where he met and married his wife, Judy. He is survived by Judy, sons Todd (son Nigel (Harriette and Nicholas)) (daughter Maria), Mark (Natalie and daughter Rowen) and Kenton (wife Christian). He is also survived by his sisters, Diane (Ray) and Darlene (Niel), brother Harry (Cindy), brothers-in–law, Bob (Velma), John (Grace), Tim and sisters-in-law, Lorna (Ngubeni), April (Brenda) and Nikki (Larry). He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Evelyn Jackson. Harold was an excellent baker who strove for perfection and received a great deal of personal satisfaction from baking. He and his family spent 10 wonderful years in Naicam, operating a bakery and playing hockey. Harold loved playing and coaching hockey and he was very good at both. He was a member of the Naicam Vikings for many years and he loved every minute of it. From there the family moved to Weyakwin, where they lived for the next 22 years. Operating a thriving business kept everyone busy, but there was always time for fishing and hunting and more fishing. Harold loved Weyakwin, the lake and the bush and the people. He was always happy to sit at the counter and swap stories and visit. He had an empty space in his life after the store was sold in 2005. Harold’s boys and his grandchildren have been a source of joy for him all of their lives and a great support the last six years. The boys have always been there to pick up the slack. Nigel has been a special joy to our lives and Maria is the little girl that had Grandpa wound around her finger. Rowen is Harold’s newest granddaughter. He was so happy to travel to Newfoundland to meet her and they had an instant connection. We are all so sad that he had to leave before he could meet Kenton and Christian’s baby, because he was such a great grandfather. We love him and will miss him so much. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 23, 2012 at St. Thomas-Wesley United Church, Saskatoon, SK with Rev. Michele Rowe officiating. Interment of ashes will take place at a later date. Arrangements are in care of Funk’s Funeral Home, Rosthern, SK.
