Obituary of Katharina Hildebrandt

October 6, 1929 – October 26, 2016 Katharina “Katie” Hildebrandt (nee Harder), age 87 years of Rosthern, died on October 26, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born on October 6, 1929 to Cornelius and Agatha Harder in the Hague area. She was the welcome daughter after five rowdy brothers, and then became a second mother to her many younger siblings. She was baptized in the Bergthal church and then after attending a Youth for Christ tent revival her faith became very real to her. She met John at a wedding and within a year – June 28, 1953, they were married. They moved to John’s family farm and she fell in love with her new life. She raised five children, teaching them to love and serve God by example. She had a large garden every year and loved canning and preserving food. She sewed clothes, decorated the house, cooked and baked. She found time to attend ladies aid and teach girls club in the church. She is survived by her husband, John Hildebrandt; her son Daryl (Pat) Hildebrandt; four daughters; Darlene (Jake) Janzen; Diana (Bernie) Petkau; Dolores (Jerry) Penner; Daphne (Trevor) Willems; 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 6 sisters; 6 brothers; numerous in-laws, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one grandchild, numerous siblings and in-laws. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Rosthern Mennonite Church 3016 – 5th Street, Rosthern, SK. Interment will take place in Rosthern Cemetery.
