Obituary of Leonard Doucette

March 2, 1925 – February 18, 2014 Leonard Joseph Doucette, age 88 years, passed away peacefully at Goodwill Manor, Duck Lake on Tuesday, February 18, 2014. Len was born, raised and lived most of his life in Duck Lake. He served in the Royal Canadian Army in WWII. He married Clemence Fiolleau on January 14, 1947. They owned a butcher shop and general store from 1952 – 1974. Len participated in the community and parish of Duck Lake through various boards, councils and volunteer activities. He also enjoyed many activities such as curling, cribbage tournaments and social gatherings. He also was an avid jigsaw puzzle maker, a hobby which he especially enjoyed during his stay at Goodwill Manor. In their retirement years, Len and Clem travelled to points in the US and Europe and frequently travelled to BC to visit family. Len moved to Saskatoon after Clem’s death to be near his daughters and returned to Goodwill Manor in Duck Lake in October 2010. Len is survived by his three daughters, Diane (Les) Morose, Geraldine (Dale) Melnechuk and Monique (Wade) Unruh, four grandchildren, Amy (Blair Nundal) Morose, Keith (Richelle) Morose, Lance Unruh (friend Megan Smith), Melanie Unruh, five step grandchildren, Tara, Wendy, Karen, Greg and Colin and two great grandsons, Liam Morose and Henry Nundal. He is also survived by five sisters, Cecilia Baribeau, Florence Perret, Yvette Traves, Rosemonde Doucette, and Raymonde Doucette. The Memorial Mass will be held, 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, Duck Lake, SK. Interment of his ashes will take place at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Dr. Rajput’s research in Parkinson Disease at RUH Foundation, 103 Hospital Drive Saskatoon Sask.
