Obituary of Abram G. Janzen
June 8, 1920 – May 21, 2015 Abram G. Janzen of the Hague, SK area passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2015, at the age of 94. Abram was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Helen (Guenther) Janzen, 8 siblings, his wife of 72 years, Gertrude (Wiebe), a son, Peter, in infancy, a son-in-law, Bruce Arlt, and grandson, Andrew. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Susan Froese, his children, Gertrude De Kleine; Bill (Marlene); Peter (Telita); Helen (Rudy Baergen); Jess (Cliff Dueck); Abe (Kathy); George (Lynette); Mary (Irvin Loewen); Henry (Susan); Susan (Dwight Brucks); and Solomon. He is also survived by 32 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. Abram was born in the village of Neuanlage, SK. on June 8, 1920. He married Gertrude Wiebe on October 6, 1940, and they lived and farmed for many years in Blumenheim. They moved to Pioneer Place in Warman in 2008. After Gertrude’s death in November of 2012, Dad spent his remaining years in the Mennonite Nursing Home in Rosthern. Abram joined the Old Colony Mennonite Church by baptism on May 12, 1940. He and Gertrude joined the Neuanlage Grace Mennonite Church in 1976. His faith in God was foundational to all else and shaped his relationships with his family, his church, and his community. The family extends grateful thanks to the staff of the Mennonite Nursing Home in Rosthern for the loving care given to him. A public viewing will be held on Monday, May 25, 2015 at 8:00 P.M. at Funk’s Funeral Chapel, Rosthern, SK. The funeral will be held at the Neuanlage Grace Mennonite Church on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. Interment will be held at Neuanlage Cemetery.
