I was shocked to hear of Ron’s passing. My deepest condolences to the Derksen family. Ron loved Jesus with all his heart, and desired to follow him wholeheartedly. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was also a very compassionate, loving person. I will never forget the times at Bible study, Sunday service, and hockey in Hepburn, that I and my family spent with him and his family. He was a wonderful man! May the Lord bless and bring comfort to those grieving.

…Wishing the Derksen family peace with so many beautiful memories. Ron was a wonderful swimming teacher & lifeguard when I was young. As a “little kid” & as his neighbour, he sometimes even let me walk with him to the pool! Later, as a lifeguard, myself, I enjoyed my visits with him at the RSP when he brought Youth Farm campers for group swimming. Ron always expressed interest in everyone, & was always so kind! As a community, we were so fortunate to have had Ron as a role model.

Ron Derksen was an inspiration to all of us who taught at LCHS. An unflappable fellow with a gentleness and kindness that radiated to all he touched. Ron was also a keen competitor on ice or in the ball hockey league. taken before his time but this is the year of Covid and healthcare issues. I will miss Derk and in my retirement I still fondly look at a picture he gave me from his trip to India..He was one of a kind. And we all learned from him.

My sincere condolences to Ron’s family. I first met Ron as a player on the opposing team, in minor hockey. I played hockey in Hague, Ron was playing for Rosthern. I could tell that Ron was a Christian even in those early years, in that setting as boys. My parents sent me to Rosthern Bible Camp at the Youth Farm and that is when I got to know Ron. We attended for a week for several years. My admiration for Ron and how he conducted himself only grew. A real gentleman and a Godly man. Whenever we met we could visit easily and conversation would flow. I was jealous of his hair too. Ron left a positive mark on people he met and things he did. He will be missed and admired What a wonderful testimony!
