Melitta and family,
Bev & I share your complicated emotions at a time like this. Menno’s passing is indeed a mixture of sorrow, grief, relief and hopeful joy at the end of a life well-lived.
I (Clare) remember a time when you, Melitta and Menno, flew down to (Niverville &/or Steinbach?), Manitoba, for some kind of event.
Bev & I had recently moved to Mather, to begin my pastoral work.
Interestingly, one year after Menno earned his, I, too, acquired my private pilot licence.
When we next visited with you folks, Menno and I compared copious notes, about flying.
Menno expressed appreciation for his and my ability to converse on nearly any topic.
After we moved to Prince Albert, 1981, we were able to enjoy many more visits and conversations in your home, or in ours, when you made your way up to Waskesiu for the summer, or headed home in the fall. We looked forward to each time you would stop by.
My personal experience with Menno, was as though he were my elder brother.
We are glad we managed to stop in at your home, for a visit, with you and Erwin & Helen Patkau, in 2022.
May you continue to enjoy the abundance of God’s grace, mercy and love in the coming days, and years.
Bev & Clare
