January 3, 1951 - May 24, 2024

73 years

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Mary Neufeld (nee Zacharias) at the age of 73 years. Mary was the fourth of 13 siblings born to Reverend Peter and Helen Zacharias. Mary was born a natural caregiver and being one of the older girls in the family, helped raise her younger siblings including her very special sister, Maggie. Throughout her years growing up in Blumenthal, she met and grew to fall in love with the love of her life Dave Neufeld and the two married in 1969, sharing almost 55 years together. Mary’s pride and joy were her two children, Angela and Cindy, her 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Mary always had her camera out and was quick to show everyone the many photos of her beautiful family that she was incredibly proud of. Mary was a busybody who loved to bake (she baked the best buns), spend time in the garden, and would never miss a garage sale or a stop at a thrift store. Of the many treasures she picked up along the way, each item she purchased was with a sentimental thought in mind. Mary was everyone’s “Auntie Mary” as she treated every person she met like family. She treasured any sort of social gathering, or to have her house filled with people. Mary had a strong Christian faith which became the purpose for her and Dave travelling to Juarez, Mexico for missionary work. Mary enjoyed travelling to Mexico for vacation, including this past winter when she enjoyed a special trip with her sisters and a second trip with Dave. One of Mary’s favourite trips was to Dublin, Ireland in 2014, to watch her granddaughter compete in an Irish Dance Championship. Mary touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the opportunity to meet her.

She is survived by her: husband Dave Neufeld; daughters Angela (Eddie) Wollman, Cindy (Darwyn) Burns; grandchildren Tyson, Jayme (Mike), Madison (TJ), Tanner (Char), Megan, Shelby (Colton); great-grandchildren Kailyn, Kinsley, Kaibry, Ivy, Cole, Hayes; siblings Helen (Peter) Goertzen, Jean, wife of her late husband Peter Zacharias, Edna, wife of her late husband Jake Zacharias, Bill (Mary Ann) Zacharias, Menno (Barb) Zacharias, Tena (Rick) Rempel, Annie (Richard) Fisher, Maggie Zacharias, Lynn (Keith) Adrian, David Zacharias, Sal (Kevin) Willms, Henry (Colleen) Zacharias and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mary was predeceased by her: parents Peter and Helen Zacharias; brothers Jake and Peter Zacharias; and her special nieces Lacey Sands and Jesse Zacharias.
