Obituary of Sarah Regier

June 17, 1929 - May 8, 2024

94 Years

 

Sarah Gertrude (Andres) Regier passed away peacefully at home in the presence of her husband and family.  

Sarah was born to Gertrude and Gerhard Andres in Waldheim, SK.  She was the oldest of four children and lived in the Laird area until retirement when she and Victor moved to Rosthern.  She went to school in Ebenfeld and completed her grade eight in Laird.  She was baptized in the Laird Mennonite Church in 1947.  She began working at age fourteen doing domestic help on farms in the area and later worked at the grocery store in Laird.  There, she met Victor Regier and they were married on July 1, 1951.  They purchased their own farm in 1957 north of Laird.  There they raised four children and built a farm home.  They served on church and community committees, taught Sunday school and worked to support the Mennonite Central Committee.  Her love of gardening, especially flowers, made the farmyard beautiful every summer.  Sarah was an avid quilt maker, both at church and at their home, for the MCC relief program. 

She leaves to mourn her husband of seventy-two years, Victor Regier, and four children: Valerie Woelk (John), Neil Regier (Pauline Steinmann), Jeanette Hanson (Todd), Dale Regier (Sandra), twelve grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.  She also leaves to mourn two siblings, Marj Epp (Stuart) and Larry Andres, and numerous nieces and nephews.  

She was predeceased by her parents, her brother and sister-in-law George and Helen Andres, sister-in-law Carol Andres (Larry), daughter-in-law Carolyn Regier (Neil), and great-grandson Brock Janzen. 

The family would like to thank Dr. Breanne Silver and the Home Care aides and nurses for all the support and care that Sarah received.
