Obituary of Preston Heinbigner

Please share a memory of Preston to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great heartache and sorrow we announce the sudden death of Preston Robert Heinbigner on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.  This day will forever be etched in our minds.

Preston will be lovingly remembered by his wife Shayda, son Oslo; parents Robert and Elaine

Heinbigner; sister Bobbi Jo (Alex) Rodriguez, their children Sasha and Emilio; brother Travis, sons Scott and Levi and their mother Staci; parents-in-law Farshid and Mona Tashakor; sister-in-law Nas Saberi (Anis), their children Siena, Kai and Leo.  His nieces and nephews absolutely adored and thought the world of him; there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for them.  He also leaves behind aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends he’s met throughout his short life.  Everyone Preston met was a friend and he made each of those he came in contact with feel seen and loved.  His smile and sense of humor (as dry and sarcastic as it could be) could make any bad situation a little bit better – he just had a way.  He was predeceased by his grandparents, Peter and Helen Guenter and John and Martha Heinbigner along with aunts Lorie and Alma and Uncle Jim.

Preston was born May 30, 1983, and raised in Martensville, SK where he spent many a day building forts, fishing in the dugout, skidooing and many more outdoor activities on the family acreage.  He loved socializing and was always the life of the party, even if he didn’t enjoy being the center of attention.  Preston loved to travel – whether it was coming back home to be at the lake, fishing, going to the mountains or a hot destination.  Preston went on many road trips to play golf with friends, and one to PEI with Robert where dad got a hole in one – something that hadn’t happened before or since!  He also loved photography and because he was an early riser, would share beautiful sunrise pictures.  Preston loved to do errands and often times would buy something he didn’t like or need just so he could drive around a few days later to return it.  He loved grocery shopping and probably has shares at the local meat shop; he would do this and have people in to cook for and entertain where you were always greeted with a huge hug and smile and a lot of delicious food – he definitely loved to cook/BBQ and was never scared of trying something new.

He later moved to Brandon, MB to attend firefighter college, and also took his PCP course before becoming a firefighter for the City of Winnipeg in 2007.  He loved the job but probably more so the brotherhood and camaraderie of his extended family within the fire hall.  We were often shocked at his choice of career as he usually moved pretty slow and was a procrastinator.  He didn’t talk specifics of the job or any of the calls and always downplayed what he did for a living because he did not want his career to overshadow his friendships.

He married Shayda Tashakor, the love of his life on June 11, 2021.  He often referred to her as his ‘angel’ and it was very apparent the love and joy they felt for one another, many times having conversations through movie quotes and just laughing and enjoying one another.  He was also a great daddy to Oslo and was looking forward to a new addition in October.
