It is such a blessing to have had Velma as a dear friend for almost 60 years. Growing up on Charles Crescent in Regina, we came to know one another's families and initially shared many adventures often centered around our high school years at Martin Collegiate. Yet, most significantly was our shared Faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Velma's Faith was held close to her heart and expressed itself in her love of her family and to her service to others. Velma's lifelong dream of becoming a nurse and mine of becoming a social worker meant so much to us when we met our goals. Over the years although our paths in life had ebbs and flows, we inevitably met and delighted in bringing one another up to date. Velma loved to share with me stories of her family with Peter; their children, their partners and their precious grandchildren. She saw each of you as individuals with beautiful gifts which touched her heart. It was so lovely to have met almost all of you and to see how you shared with her hugs and kisses which she so freely gave herself. While my heart is saddened to know that she and I can no longer share our calls, I look forward to the day when we will be reunited in the Presence of our Lord. Dear Peter, your children, their partners, and your grandchildren; Dear Elsie (my Christmas carol singing pal) and your family; Dear Bea and your family; to Velma's sisters-in-law, Michelle and Mary and your families; to Dwight Buchan, Velma's dear pal and your family; to Velma's friends and colleagues, you were all very dear to her and when you feel a bit sad, know that the gift that she is will go on until we meet again. With Love from her friend, Irene Fern (Joncas) Behrmann.
