Obituary of Hazel Fehr

Please share a memory of Hazel to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

March 19, 1946 - February 6, 2024

77 Years

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hazel Fehr (nee Wiens).  Mom was born in the Warman Hospital on March 19, 1946.  She grew up in Gruenfeldt, Sk.  She enjoyed the outdoors and loved helping her parents on the farm.

She was baptized upon the confession of her faith in the Neuhorst Old Colony Church on May 15, 1967.  Mom and Dad were married on May 26, 1968, and started their life together on the homestead, east of Hague, where Mom remained until a few days before her passing.

Mom and Dad worked together dairy farming for about 30 years.  Mom continued with raising chickens, participating with the Rosthern farmer’s market (25 years), gardening, baking for numerous charity groups, and gathering clothing and sewing blankets to send overseas.  Mom found great joy in collecting used Corelle dishes, creating sets, and reselling them far and wide.

God gave Mom the gift of hospitality. Her home was always open for anyone to stop by. She blessed many with her generosity and servant’s heart.  She continued hosting and serving her guests meals through her six-month struggle with cancer, including the last week of her life.

Mom was blessed with 6 children, 18 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Family time was very important to Mom, and every month she invited the whole family home for a Sunday meal.

Left to mourn are children: Kathy and Abe Guenter, Lori and Steve Giesbrecht, Ed and Michelle, Dave and Cindy, Colleen and Josh Hamm, Martin and Sheryl;  grandchildren: Michael and Kayla, Brittney and Andy, Karlene and Delten, Thomas and Miranda, Brent, Alana, Devin and Jasmine, Janai, Chantel and Will, Colby, Monika, Leila, Mathais, Erika, Malachi, Amber, Sarah-Anne, Paul; great-grandchildren: Carter, Lanaya, Aliyah, Natalie, Willow, Briella, Brooklyn, Mayla, Phoebe, Bridget, and Aiden;  siblings and in-laws: Carl and Carol Wiens, Violet and Jake Tiechroeb, Hilda and John Hamm, Marianne and Pete Hamm; in-laws: Jake Fehr, Sarah Fehr, Tena Dyck, Martha Fehr, Helen Unruh, Peter and Linda Fehr, Dave and Sarah Friesen; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Mom was predeceased by her husband John B Fehr, parents: David and Katharina Wiens; parents-in-law: Isaac and Anne Fehr; sister Eva (Cornie) Wiebe; in-laws: Isaac and Mary Fehr, Cornie Fehr, Anne (Peter K & Peter H), Herman Fehr, Mary Fehr, Helen Fehr, George Dyck, and Victor Unruh.
