Betty May Quiring entered her heavenly home on October 14, 2023, at the age of 88 years.

 

Betty was born in Lacombe, Alberta on Good Friday, April 19, 1935, to parents James and Mary Luella Stock. She spent her formative years in Lacombe and Jasper. Following high school, she worked as a telephone operator in Lacombe. After meeting a dashing young man from Saskatchewan at a New Year’s Eve dance, a new love blossomed, and on May 17, 1953, she married Jacob Brown in Red Deer, AB. Married life took Betty and Jake to Calgary, Lost River, SK, Jasper, Hinton and Edson, AB, before settling in Nipawin, SK. in 1967, where they completed their family.    

 

Following Jake’s passing in 1995, Betty married Isaac Quiring and moved to MacGregor, MB. Issac passed away in 2020, and Betty returned to Saskatchewan in September 2022, where she enjoyed living in Pineview Manor in Rosthern. After suffering a stroke In March 2023, she became a resident of the Mennonite Nursing Home in Rosthern, where she resided until her passing.

 

She was predeceased by her mother Mary Luella Boyd, father James Stock, stepmother Edvena Stock, brothers David, Vernon and Bill Stock, husband Jake Brown, second husband Isaac Quiring, sons Joseph Brown, Fred Brown, and granddaughter Abigail Brown. She leaves to mourn her sons Ken Brown, Rod (Ruth) Brown, Tony (Sarah) Brown, Darcy (Dallas) Brown, daughter Maria (Trevor) Freemantle, daughters-in-law Maureen Brown, Alma Brown, 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, as well as members of Isaac’s family.

 

Betty loved the Lord, her family, church, and community and was grateful for the many blessings in her life. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and all those she touched during her time with us.

 

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the dedicated staff at Rosthern Hospital and the Mennonite Nursing Home for the care and support they provided to Betty.

 

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Grace Mennonite Church, 50 Pembroke Road, Neuanlage, SK.

 

Floral tributes are gratefully declined, however if so inclined, memorial donations may be made to the Mennonite Nursing Home, Box 370, Rosthern, Saskatchewan S0K 3R0.
