Her greatest joys in life were her loving husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mom spent countless hours in the kitchen cooking for not only her family but the many auction-goers as well. She met so many wonderful people at the farm sales and Roth Auction Centre, who greatly appreciate her cooking. But it didn’t stop there! Having a large market garden, butchering thousands of chickens for others, cleaning houses, and taking care of the elderly in her own private care home. She was well known for her infectious smile and amazing work ethic. Her favorite saying was “auf geshouvan as nicht auf gehouvan” meaning “putting it off doesn’t make it go away”.
Later in life, she decided to get back into sewing. She had sewed many clothes for us throughout the years, but now it was time to sew blankets! Not only for her children and grandchildren but for many needy families overseas. The quilting frame was usually set up Monday to Friday and then put away for the weekend just in case visitors came on Sunday. In 2013 her dream became a reality when she was able to visit Butchart Gardens in BC.
She was predeceased by her son Peter, son-in-law Doug Huchkowsky, her parents, 6 brothers, 1 sister, and numerous in-laws.
