Mary, Helen, Tena, Henry, Agnes, Paul, Valida, Richard and Betty Penner with their parents, Katerina and Bernhard (1939?) Helen is in the middle at the rear. Helen told me that although life could be hard on the farm, she has so many wonderful childhood memories of their family singing together or walking out to the fields with a big Platz her mom had baked. Her dad was a wonderful and patient teacher. One night, he woke them up to go and see a tree that had been struck by lightning. The roots were glowing in the dark as some chemicals had been charged by the lightning strike and were glowing. Phosphorescence. What a great memory! Brian, Roger, Hazel, Wendy, Russel, Stephen, I will miss your dear Mom. She was so good to me! Love to you all, Cousin Sheryl
