Obituary of David Peters
July 17, 1951 – May 21, 2021 It is with great sorrow that the family of David Allan Peters announces his passing on May 21, 2021, after a lengthy struggle with heart failure. Dave was born July 17, 1951, in Omaha, Nebraska to Peter and Delores Peters. He was the oldest child of a family of six children. After spending his younger years in Sweet Home, Oregon, he moved with his family to Waldheim, SK at the age of twelve. He left home at 16 to work on farms and ranches and began his career as a cowboy. On September 15, 1972, Dave married Tena Peters and together they raised five children. They lived all over western Canada and made many friendships along the way. To Dave, everyone he met was a new friend and he loved nothing more than swapping stories and finding connections with everyone he met. One of his favourite pastimes was researching family history and finding cousins everywhere he went. Dave was first and foremost a cowboy and a rancher. There was never a time when he wasn’t involved with horses, he owned and bred Quarter Horses for 50 years. He held many different occupations over his lifetime, from trucking to guiding hunting trips in the mountains, but his dream was always to own a large ranch. Dave leaves behind his loving wife, Tena, and his five children and eleven grandchildren: Phil Peters; Lorena (Berk), Corbin, Kalyrra, Callen, Keyani Rees; Tyson (Charmaine), Oscar, Lemaya, Mila, Braylie Peters; Morgan (Daneen), Mayda, Ryelle, Tyla Peters; Raeleen (Matt) Janzen; brothers, Milton (Kathy) Peters, James (Debbie) Peters; sisters, Dorothy (Ed) Rempel and Sharon (Roger) Freer. He was predeceased by his parents, Pete and Delores and his youngest sister, Ruth. A Public Come and Go Viewing will be held, with family in attendance, at Funk’s Funeral Home, Rosthern on Thursday, May 27, 2021, from 7:00-8:30 P.M.
