Obituary of Anne Bukowsky

August 27, 1927 – February 3, 2018 Anne Bukowsky (nee Sapchuk) was born in Rosthern to Dmytro & Paraska Sapchuk and grew up in Fish Creek, SK. On July 26, 1951, she married Peter Bukowsky and moved to Rosthern, where they resided. In 1967, Anne took over the Esso Restaurant in Rosthern. In 1977, they opened the Golden Sheaf Restaurant on Main Street. Anne was widely known for her cooking skills. She was very proud to be nationally recognized twice in the food guide “Where to Eat in Canada”. She operated the Golden Sheaf until 1993, when she sold the restaurant to move to Saskatoon to be closer to her family. Anne enjoyed carpet bowling, playing cards, gardening, baking, attending prayer groups, and family suppers. Last year, Anne was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease, requiring her to move to Diamond House Personal Care Home in Warman, SK. She passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 3, 2018. Anne’s family would like to thank the staff of St. Paul’s Hospital and Diamond House for their kindness and care during mom’s final months. Anne is survived by her daughters, Rose (Cornelius) Kluge and Joan (Wayde) Squires; grandchildren, Monica (Chance) Barkley and Simon Kluge; sister, Mary Kotelko; nieces and nephews, Florence Dyck, Ruth Kotelko, Bob (Donna) Kotelko, and Sonia (Doug) Broad; as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter Bukowsky and her son, Mark Bukowsky. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at St. Odilon Roman Catholic Church, Rosthern, SK. Interment will take place at Rosthern Cemetery.
