Katie went to be with her Lord in the afternoon of February 24, 2022. She was born to Bernard and Helena Petkau on June 3, 1927, in Duff, Sask.
Katie is survived by: one brother, Edwin (Elizabeth) Petkau of Cleardale, Alberta; 3 sisters, Hilda Rempel of Saskatoon, Sask, Leona (Dave) Hawker of Kelowna, BC, Alvena (Cliff) Jensen of Chilliwack, BC; sisters-in-law Peggie Petkau, Maida Petkau, Verna Petkau; and brother-in-law Bill Richardson.
Katie was predeceased by her husband, Jake Friesen, her parents, Bernard and Helena Petkau, 4 infant sisters, 3 brothers, Pete Petkau, Ben Petkau, John Petkau, 2 sisters, Mary Nichols, and Eleanor Richardson, sister-in-law, Margaret Petkau, Lorna Petkau, 4 brothers-in-law, Lionel Nichols, Abe Zacharias, Peter Rempel, and Ted Hill.
Service in Remembrance of Katie Friesen will be held at the Rosthern Mennonite Church on Friday, March 4, 2022, with viewing at 1:00 PM and the service at 2:00 PM. In attendance for the funeral, we strongly recommend everyone wears a mask except when eating at the lunch that will be held immediately after the funeral. Interment will be at Rosthern Cemetery.
