In loving memory of
BRUCE HARDER
July 18, 1952 – July 9, 2019
Age – 66 years
During his time on earth, Bruce Jack Harder worked hard and played harder. Born to Betty and Harvey Harder, the family lived a short while in Langham, then moved back to the family farm in Laird with older sisters Pat and Peggy. After years of working out in construction, he married the love of his life, Sandra Wirth. Together they found their ideal home on a farm near Laird and began raising pigs. He played a huge role in raising Derek (Jenna) and Christine (Christian Douglas), while Sandra worked. All enjoyed the family trips to the lake, to Disneyland, to Mexico and beyond.
Bruce enjoyed curling, ball, hunting and fishing ….and excelled at most. He took great pride in taking the “guys” out to teach them to hunt, fish, filet and butcher. More recently they were taking him. He will be remembered for his generosity, his sense of humour, his genuine nature and his love for friends and family. Bruce’s legacy lives on through his family, including his grandchildren Suri and Summer Douglas, and Norah, Natalie, Anna and Jaime Harder. He enjoyed his last days at the lake, NOT the hospital, surrounded by family and friends. Many made great efforts to bid him farewell. And his wish for one last fishing trip on his new boat became a reality – he even caught the big one. He truly spent his life living and dying on his own terms.
A favourite party place for dances, family reunions and card playing has always been the Laird Hall so….
Bruce’s “Last Hurrah” will take place at the Laird Hall on August 2, 2019. Come and go from 3-7 to share music, stories, memories and an open mic. In lieu of flowers, share your gifts with the Salvation Army.
Bruce you were a great man, who loved his family dearly and lived life to the fullest. It was such a pleasure to have met you and we loved spending time with you at the lake.
Sandra and family our thoughts are with you all at this very sad time x
So sad for all of us. The world will be a different place without Bruce. His big laugh and character will surely be missed. Was a honour to have him for a friend in my lifetime🙏
My heartfelt sympathy for all of Bruce’s family.

We will miss you Brucie!
Our son Patrick still says you took us on the best fishing trip ever!
How can I not think of you with great warmth and a grin on my face?
I believe you were truly a spirit of Saskatchewan and we will all be the lesser without you.
We have lost a “one of a kind”.
How can you not think we’ll of Bruce and with a grin on your face?
Our son Patrick always says Bruce took us on the best fishing trip of our lives.
Farewell Brucie, you have enriched our lives!
My heartfelt condolences to Sandra and family, for even when we know he is in a better place, I know he will be greatly missed by all…but mostly his family. To Bruce you all meant everything to him. I’m so glad I got to spend some time with him and the family during his last days at the lake. He was where he wanted to be.
Growing up on a farm very close to Harvey and Betty’s farm, I have lots of great memories…but in every one, his great sense of humour and passion for life was evident. RIP my friend.
My deepest condolences on the passing of your loved one . He sounds like a super kind of guy, may the memories you have of your times with him give you peace and strength. God’s richest blessings to you and your family.

Rest In Peace, your fight is done. Our condolences to the family.
My deepest sympathy, Sandra, to you and your entire family. Although I have only known Bruce for a few years, one of my most fond memories is him sitting outside your bungalow in Melaque, Mexico, when I returned from a trip downtown. He was always concerned that I had spent too much money and would have to sell my return plane ticket in order to pay for my purchases! I certainly missed that on our trip this year! Bruce’s sense of humour was second to none and he will be missed. His memories will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Bruce will always have a place in my heart .. he welcomed me into their home as the first nanny for Derek and Christine. From the word go I was accepted as part of his family . I felt honoured when Bruce and Sandra came out to visit my family in Australia. I have so many fond memories of Laird, the Harder and Wirth family .
Sandra my heart felt condolences to you and your family, xxx ❤️❤️❤️
I sure had a lot of fun playing ball with Bruce! He had a unique pitch, one that was very hard to hit, so it was better to be playing with him than against him. What a great guy. Deepest sympathy to your family.
Sending you All our deepest condolences during this difficult time. Bruce will be missed dearly by all that he touched by his smiles, laugh, friendships, food and the great times and visits with him. I will always see him in a memory I have of him… at the laird Poker rally when I would help Mel and Gordy cook the pig and Bruce would come by to check how it was doing. Then he always had to have a pieces of the head and say Joe try this it’s really good.😆 cheers to you Bruce 🍻 I know you lived life to the fullest everyday! . 👍👌👏🙌🙏❣😇
Well there was a life well lived! Bruce never greeted anyone half hearted. It was always a huge smile and a huge hello. His presence will not be forgotten and we know it will be greatly missed by all those that love him. Our condolences to all.

Sandra., I’m so sorry to hear about Bruce. You were very special to him – when he would call for you at the clinic, he would always ask to speak to his “bride”. Sweet! Praying for you and family

My thoughts and prayers are with you Sandra, Derek, Christine and families. You will all miss Bruce so very much. He was a great guy and the best neighbour we could have wished for . We enjoyed and appreciated the visits and the very generous gifts of fish, chicken, sausage or whatever was in season. He was always kind and thoughtful. Family was so very important to him , you will cherish the many good memories of times together. I know Ervin appreciated him too and enjoyed the farm chats throughout the many years that we lived across the road.

My deepest sympathy Sandra and family on Bruce’s passing! Will keep you all in my prayers.
